Wimmera River Discovery Trail Update Published on 22 October 2021 In 2019 Hindmarsh Shire Council received funding from State and Federal Governments to implement the Dimboola to Lake Hindmarsh section of the Wimmera River Discovery Trail. Total funding for this stage is $1.2 million, with $600,000 from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund being matched by $400,000 from the Victorian State Government and $200,000 from Hindmarsh Shire Council. Waste and Recycling Published on 08 October 2021 The State Government plans to introduce a Container Deposit Scheme in 2023, to reduce the volume of recyclables being deposited in kerbside bins and at Transfer Stations. Additional kerbside reforms have also been announced, which includes collection of glass by 2027 and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) to be rolled out by 2030. Free Green Waste Month going ahead Published on 10 September 2021 We are very excited to advise that, due to restrictions easing, we are now able to re-offer our Free Green Waste Month which will be open at all our transfer stations during normal operating hours from Friday 10 September 2021 to Sunday 10 October 2021. Lighting a Fire in a Residential Area Published on 16 August 2021 Council would like to remind all residents of the Hindmarsh Shire that if you wish to light a fire on your property and live in a built up area, you may be required to obtain a permit to burn in the open air.
